Why I Don't Have a Showcase
This is a question I get asked a lot! I signed up for a seller account so that I could try and sell my children's books on TikTok. I quickly discovered that it's easier to give a feral cat a suppository than sell books on this platform, so I started selling products for other sellers—I became an affiliate, which you could still do back in March when I set everything up—and to date, I have sold two books. Two, and they both went over to Amazon to buy them! In order to link my showcase to my seller account, I need to sell a minimum of 300 books. I can't even afford to stock that many with the cost of printing, taxes and shipping from Amazon KDP! Alternatively, I could unlink my seller account, but then I run the risk of losing my account altogether—links, pending commissions and almost eight months worth of content and hard work. Would you risk it? Yeah, me either.
I started my backup account with the intention of growing it so that I could start a proper TikTok Shop, but I quickly learned that I might not have the drive and fortitude to operate two shops, and produce quality content for both. I enjoy having my work-life-balance, I miss writing, and I'm on my phone entirely too much as it is. Besides, I like having my backup for posting inspiring and sometimes silly little things that hopefully resonate with "my people."
I hope this answers the question as to why I don't have a showcase. If you have any questions, feel free to drop them here and I will always do my best to answer them.
