How I Became a TikTok Shop Affiliate with Zero Knowledge and Followers

Yes, I did the work around seller method before it was officially shut down a couple of weeks ago. 😁 I had the books to sell, just not the followers. Look, I had been in the marketing space for the last two years trying like hell to market and sell my books. I was so sick of spending what little money I had on author copies, beta programs, free giveaways, etc., not to mention all the time I invested in multiple social media platforms promoting said books with little to no feedback or sales. That shit costs more time and money than you would believe and I was spent. I kept seeing people on TikTok making outrageous claims about the amount of money they were making selling other people's products for commissions, so I did it.

I didn't buy a course—I didn't know you could even do that when I started—I literally watched YouTube videos and other content creators on TikTok to learn as much as I could about what to do and how to get started. The work around, the work around...I got lucky. I was watching a YouTube tutorial on how to do it: press pause, do the next step, play, take notes, pause, do the next step—you get the gist. I don't even think...no, I know I didn't set up my account correctly, but somehow I got in. Technically, once I reached 1K followers, it was a gray area anyway, because I was/am selling my own products, my children's books, of which, I've only sold two and both buyers went to Amazon and got them there. 😂 Selling books is a lot harder than selling wild yam cream.

When I got started, I utilized two things around my house that were already on the TikTok Shop Marketplace—the wild yam cream and the magnesium supplement, so I didn't have to spend one penny to get started. My first 50+ videos were faceless and only promoted those products. Then I gradually added other things like the D3/K2 supplement and the wild yam oil rollerball, staying mostly faceless, until I became what I like to call, creator confident. You just reach a point where you stop caring how other people are going to perceive you, and you do it. Honestly, at some point you need to do it so that your audience gains trust in you and the items you are selling.

I still don't know what I am doing! I am not using TikTok Shop to my fullest advantage. I don't join campaigns, I don't do Lives, I can't unlink my account and take part in the Creator Program...I could be making a LOT more money—or could I? My account is not in good standing as I mentioned in my first post because of several community guidelines violations (I didn't read the guidelines when I started, just glossed over them, don't do that!! 😂) and as a result, my views and sales are down a whopping 62% compared to last month! A lot more people are about to be in the mix, too, since TikTok dropped the requirements to 1K to start, which is why I'm trying to sprinkle in some digital marketing, so at some point in the future I can possibly have multiple income streams. It's definitely been a harder row to hoe compared to TikTok Shop, and I will be talking more about The Roadmap and Affiliate to Millions! I hope you will stay tuned, and if there is anything you want to know more about, let me know and I will do my best to post about it!!

Y'all have a great day and if you have any questions or want to leave a comment, feel free and I will be happy to answer! 💕
